Celebrating 30 Years: A Journey of Family, Craftsmanship, and Community

As we celebrate 30 years in business at Henderer Design + Build + Remodel, we are filled with immense pride and gratitude for the journey that has brought us to this milestone. Since our inception in 1994, our family-owned business has grown, evolved, and thrived, thanks to the unwavering support of our community, clients, and dedicated team members.

A Legacy of Quality and Innovation

Our story began in 1994 as Henderer’s Homework, founded by Chuck Henderer, a local teacher, and his three sons. They started by doing handyman work around the area, and Chuck truly embodied the spirit of being a “Chuck with a Truck.” From these humble beginnings, we evolved into Henderer Construction, focusing on more extensive building projects.

As we continued to grow, we adopted the name, Henderer Design + Build, to better reflect our comprehensive services. Later, we emphasized the remodeling aspect as well, becoming Henderer Design + Build + Remodel to highlight our specialization in transforming homes with precision and creativity.

In 2016, Dave Henderer took the reins and has since grown the company significantly. Under his leadership, we’ve expanded our services, embraced new opportunities, and maintained high standards of craftsmanship. Henderer has been voted “Best in the Valley” numerous times in interior design, building, and remodeling, reflecting our commitment to excellence. We won the 2014 Small Business of the Year award and were finalists for the 2024 award. Furthermore, in 2023, Henderer was selected as the winner for Family Harmony in Oregon State University’s Center for Family Enterprise’s 2023 Excellence in Family Business Awards. Additionally, we’ve received multiple awards from CotY, Chrysalis, and Qualified Remodeler for outstanding designs and remodels. Dave’s impact on the community has been profound, generously donating time, manpower, and money, to many local organizations.

Family at the Heart of Our Business

At Henderer Design + Build + Remodel, family isn’t just a part of our business—it’s the foundation upon which we’ve built our success. Dave Henderer and his wife, Shelley, have always emphasized the importance of maintaining high-quality craftsmanship while fostering a supportive and collaborative work environment. Their daughters, Rylee and Olivia, contribute their creativity and expertise to the design team, ensuring that each home we work on reflects the unique style and personality of its owners. In addition, Caleb, their son, keeps our operations running smoothly as the office manager. Meanwhile, Noelle, their daughter-in-law and marketing director, actively engages with the community and shares our exciting updates.

Expanding Our Horizons

As of June 1st of this year, we’ve embraced new opportunities and expanded our services to better serve our clients. Our acquisition of Henderer Custom Cabinetry (HCC), previously known as Country Cabinets Halsey (CCH), has allowed us to offer high-quality cabinetry solutions while maintaining the same high standards of craftsmanship that our clients have come to expect. A crucial element of HCC is the artisans and their talent, which will remain in the shop for five years. Andy Schukis, the former owner of CCH, will remain on staff to help train the next generation of artisans. One of our younger carpenters, Matt, will be training alongside Andy, learning the elements of this intricate trade. With Matt learning custom cabinetry skills and Ted mastering cabinet design software, our team is well-equipped to handle any cabinetry project.

Looking Ahead

As we celebrate 30 years in business at Henderer Design + Build + Remodel, we reflect on the countless memories and achievements that have defined our journey. We’ve built more than just homes; we’ve built lasting relationships with our clients and community. Every project we’ve completed tells a story of collaboration, trust, and shared vision.

Looking ahead, we remain committed to our core values of quality, innovation, and family. We are excited about the future and the new opportunities it holds. Our goal is to continue exceeding our clients’ expectations, delivering beautiful, functional, and enduring spaces that they will cherish for years to come.

Thank You

To our clients, team members, partners, and community—thank you for being a part of our journey. Your support, trust, and loyalty have been instrumental in our success. As we celebrate 30 years in business at Henderer, we look forward to many more years of creating beautiful spaces and lasting memories together.

The Henderer Family and Team
